Remodeling your Vail Valley Home? Here's what you need to know...

An entire remodel by LMS construction in the Vail Valley is a one of a kind experience. We don't just build homes, we connect and build a solid relationship with our clients so that we understand their vision and desires. We pride ourselves on taking great care of our people, and treating their homes like they belong to one of us- with the utmost care. We have found that knowing what to expect in each phase of your remodel will make a difference in whether or not you view the experience positively or negatively.

This post is designed to support you in understanding the process and what its like to renovate your home in the Vail Valley.

Are you daydreaming about a new kitchen to practice your chef skills and host friends? Or about your dream master bed and bath to really make it where the magic happens? Here is some good news- you don't even have to know exactly what you want. Over the last 25 years of doing construction, Lee (owner of LMS) has mastered the art of bringing your vision to life, even when you aren't exactly sure about what you want. In the initial walk through, Lee will give you timeless design and ideas to support the flow of your space. In this same walk through, we can determine what can be done inside of your budget. Keep in mind, ANYTHING you can dream up is possible, but not always on budget.

After your consultation and estimate, you are ready to begin! For bigger jobs, you will work with an architect and Lee to get the plan straight, and a designer to support you in choosing your aesthetic, and walking you through the process. We have it all for you - we are well connected in the valley with skilled designers and architects. Whether you are getting an entire remodel, or an addition or partial remodel, here is a list of some steps of the process-

  1. The best practice is to get all of your furniture into storage, and plan to take a vacation or stay in another home. This helps the job go faster.

  2. House Protection- we make the home dust and scratch proof, carpet mask on the carpet, and heavy cardboard on any floors you are keeping.

  3. Demolition. ** NOTE- During demo is the number one time that we may run into unexpected costs due to the fact that this is when we discover what is actually going on in the walls. The top two problems we see are 1)homes built 30 years ago were not built to present day code, and 2)sometimes we find weird or bad construction. Not to worry, we will know what to do. This is something that we like to bring to your attention beforehand.

  4. Framing

  5. Rough plumbing and electrical

  6. Drywall and paint

  7. Trim

  8. Woodwork and flooring

  9. Bathroom fixtures, mirrors, shower doors

  10. Hook up water, sewer, and plumbing

  11. Inspection and deep clean

  12. Walk through with Lee

  13. Move back in💃

We hope this helps as a little starter guide. The most important thing to remember is that you are in good hands and don't have anything to worry about. Once we are on the job, we've got you. Contact us today for more information.
